Assignments – “The Economics of the Organization of the Public Sector – Incentive aspects of internal organization and privatization”

The following topics are suggested for writing a paper within “The Economics of the Organization of the Public Sector – Incentive aspects of internal organization and privatization” :

· A referee’s report of one of the papers on the extended reading list.

· A note on one of the following topics (or another topic approved by FA):

· For-profit vs. non-profit firms in education and social services – pros and cons.

· What are the hazards and virtues of school competition from a classroom perspective – will teachers incentives be unambiguously more appropriate?

· Who should own a privatized nursing home – aspects.

Remark: A referee’s report should contain the following.

· A summary of the paper, including a precise account of the mechanisms that are important for the results.

· A critical assessment of the paper, and whether the paper makes a useful contribution towards understanding or explaining phenomena claimed to be explained.

· Somewhat detailed ideas for changes or extensions that would make the paper more interesting and useful.

Assignments should not exceed 1500 words.
