Graduate Courses

The Graduate Programme is comprised of courses that are available to students at the Masters and PhD levels.

Courses at the Masters level can often be taken as part of the PhD degree. The demands for the PhD students are set higher, however, and supplementary research oriented assignments may be required.

All courses in the Graduate Program are part time, i.e. students are expected to read two courses in parallel. All courses are given in English.

PhD Courses

There is a set of core courses, comprising six compulsory courses and three strongly recommended courses (all courses are 7.5 credits, 60 credits per year).

The compulsory courses are as follows (S = Spring term and A = Autumn term)

  • (A) Microeconomics - Theory for Individual Choice
  • (S) Microeconomics - Strategic Interaction (even years)
  • (A) Advanced Macroeconomic Analysis

The recommended methodological courses are

The methodological courses are scheduled to serve as preparation for the compulsory courses. Advanced Econometrics is a prerequisite for Econometric Theory, and Advanced Macroeconomic Analysis is a prerequisite for Economic Growth, Advanced Course and International Macroeconomic Theory.

Other PhD courses (as lectures or seminars) are also given, but vary from year to year. In addition reading courses will be arranged as required.
