Master Programme Economic Research Methods

Scope of the programme: 60 ECTS credit points (ECTS)
Level: Advanced (A)
Duration: One year

The programme will not be offered during the academic year 2010/2011.

Students who have already completed a one-year Master Programme in Economics can complement this degree with a further one-year Master Programme in Economic Research Methods. This programme builds upon previous studies in economics at the bachelor level and master level, and is an excellent preparation for post-graduate studies at the doctoral level. It also prepares students for very qualified positions within the private and public sectors.

The programme is designed to ensure that students who already have a sound knowledge in the basic methods of advanced economics can extend their studies into economic research methods. To this end the programme is structured so that students first complete their studies in the basic methods of advanced economics by taking 7.5 ECTS from the block of core courses. This is followed by at least 30 ECTS in research methods. The final 7.5 ECTS can either be in research methods or as an elective within economics. Finally, the students write a 15 ECTS thesis, where they apply the methods they have learnt to a specific economics problem.

Please make sure that you are aware of the prerequisites for admission to the programme before you submit an application.

Requirements for a Master Degree
